This quote comes from the book “Cruel Beauty” by Rosamund Hodge. The reason why I chose this quote was because it reminded me of the childhood fear of the dark and how it can still translate to adulthood. When I first thought of imagery for it, I was inspired by the movie “The Babadook”; hence, the shadow figure appearance. I also wanted to give a type of contrast to give a feeling of eeriness, which is why I made the shadow eyes red as well as the young girl's. I wanted to give the illusion that the monster had locked on to its prey. My font choice was used because of how the design made it look like the text was carved, as well as how the O’s made haunting-looking eyes.
