It is one thing to say that psychedelic mushrooms “open your mind”, but it is another to demonstrate their dream effects in a scientific study. This seems to have been achieved by a research group in a study published today in Human Brain Mapping. Psilocybin mushrooms can do it best. You can buy psilocybin Canada. “These effects look like what we feel when we dream”
As part of the experiment, researchers in a group of 15 participants injected a dose of psilocybin – the chemical that gives “mushrooms” the greatest strength – reports the Washington Post. Another group, the control group, did not receive the drug. The researchers then used brain imaging technology to explore the areas of the brain that were activated in both groups. As a result, they found that psilocybin increases the volume of activity in areas of the brain that are normally activated when we dream during sleep. It has also increased brain function in regions associated with emotions and memory. According to the researchers, these effects are similar to what we feel when we dream.
“It’s as if someone’s raised the volume there, in the areas that are considered part of the brain’s emotional system,” said Robin Carhart-Harris, a neuropharmacologist at Imperial College London, opposite the Washington Post. “When you look at a brain in dream sleep, you see the same centers of hyperactive emotions.”
“Mushrooms quench our ego”
Since people who consume psychedelics often describe their experience as a dream (mushrooms usually do not result in pleasurable and rewarding “highs” that other medicines can expect), these results do not seem surprising. Keep in mind, however, that psilocybin not only relieves emotions but also reduces the activity in the parts of the brain that are related to our self or ego feelings. This intriguing combination seems to allow users to look at their emotions in a different, broader and often more positive light. As Carhart-Harris wrote in an article for The Conversation, this could “explain why psychedelics were considered helpful mediators of some forms of psychotherapy.” You can buy psilocybin Canada to get the mushrooms.
The results are completely new and “their validity still needs to be assessed,” Carhart-Harris wrote. But if the results are correct, they could finally give us a biological basis for “the expansion of consciousness that is one of the hallmarks of a psychedelic experience.”
